If you're aspiring to become a pilot in India, you may have come across the term "DGCA Computer Number (CN)" in your journey. The DGCA Computer Number is a unique identification number allotted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India's aviation regulatory body. This number plays a crucial role in DGCA examinations and serves as your identity for correspondence with the DGCA. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of obtaining your DGCA Computer Number smoothly and hassle-free.
The Importance of DGCA Computer Number:
The DGCA Computer Number is a lifelong identifier that does not expire. It is essential for any candidate wishing to appear in DGCA theory examinations and maintain communication with the DGCA.
This unique identification number streamlines the administrative process and ensures efficient tracking of candidate records.
Steps to Apply for DGCA Computer Number: To obtain your DGCA Computer Number, you need to follow a systematic application process. Here are the steps involved:
1. Download Pariksha User Manual:
Visit the DGCA Pariksha website and download the Pariksha User Manual. This manual provides comprehensive instructions and guidelines for the application process.
2. Get your Board Verification Certificate (BVC):
Ensure you have your Board Verification Certificate (BVC) handy. This document verifies your educational qualifications and is a crucial requirement for the application.
3. Photograph:
Prepare a photograph that complies with the specifications mentioned in the Pariksha User Manual. The photograph should be borderless, have a white background, and measure 35mm in height and 25mm in width (with the face occupying 70% of the photograph). It should also have a matte finish.
4. Prepare Soft Copies of all Documents:
Scan all the required documents according to the specifications mentioned in the Pariksha User Manual. These scanned copies will be submitted during the online application process.
5. Prepare Physical Documents:
After successfully filling up the application online, you will receive an email from the DGCA containing a PDF attachment of your application. Print out this application PDF in color. On page 3, complete Part 8 - "DECLARATION" using a black ballpoint pen. In Part 9 - "CERTIFICATION BY COMPETENT AUTHORITY," affix the same photograph you scanned earlier. Attest the application by a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Pilot-In-Command (PII), Gazetted Officer, or Notary Public. For serving defense personnel, another serving Commissioned Officer can provide the attestation. Ensure that the attesting officer's stamp and signature are partly on the photo and partly on the paper. Make attested copies of all other documents uploaded during the online application process.
6. Prepare Envelope for Post:
Purchase an A2 or A3 size envelope for sending the physical documents to the DGCA. Print the relevant information on the front side of the envelope. Arrange the documents in the sequence specified on Page 2 of your CN Application and place them inside the envelope.
7. Final Checklist:
Before sealing the envelope and sending it to the DGCA, double-check the following:
- All documents are attested copies
- Your CN Application is complete and accurate
- Your Temp ID is correctly entered on the envelope cover page
8. Posting it to DGCA:
Visit your nearest Post Office and send the envelope via Speed Post only. Speed Post provides a tracking ID, allowing you to monitor the progress of your application. Post your envelope as soon as possible since you have a 10-day window for the application to reach the DGCA. When your application reaches DGCA, you will receive an Email of Acknowledgement.
9. Acknowledgement Email: The Outcome of Your Application
Upon submitting your application and completing the necessary steps, you eagerly anticipate the result. The DGCA will notify you via email regarding the status of your application. Here are the possible scenarios:
Success: If your application and documents are in order, you will be allotted a Permanent Computer Number. The DGCA will inform you of your new Computer Number via email.
Rejection: If there are issues with your documents, your application will be rejected. Review the reasons provided in the rejection email and start a new application, incorporating the suggested amendments. Include a cover letter with your previous Rejected Application Temp ID, reasons for rejection, and the changes made in your new application.
Persistence and attention to detail are key. Address any issues and resubmit your application with the necessary modifications to improve your chances of obtaining the DGCA Computer Number.
Remember, each step contributes to your progress as you pursue your dream of becoming a licensed pilot. Stay determined and focused on your goal.
